Verizon To Acquire Volicon

Verizon has signed an agreement where it is all set to acquire Volicon.

Verizon Communications Inc. has made an announcement regarding its Digital Media Services segment which is now part and parcel of AOL has signed a takeover contract with Volicon. The company is a renowned name in terms of clip creation and video capturing workflow related to media broadcast. The company has embraced a major stride since the acquisition will become a core asset for the company’s digital media services. The company will assist Verizon’s unit to become the top media services and technology provider in the media broadcasting and online video fraternity.

The company’s Digital Media Services unit enables its consumer to deliver content to the masses safely irrespective of the device at any time and any instance. The service is being used by top content creators, enterprises, publishers and broadcasters across Verizon’s biggest and largely connected network across the globe.

Bob Toohey, the President of the Digital Media Service at Verizon claims that almost every service in the industry is digitizing and moving to the video and mobile ecosystem. The agenda behind his company is to give users a platform where they can bring all the content over the Internet ensuring high security and quality.

Volicon will assist VZ to make the quality, transparency, visibility of the company better. The company wants to make the advertisement and consumer content better all over the globe. Verizon is currently offering its services to more than 1200 video operators and broadcasters all over the globe. The company also has substantial experience and analyzing and monitoring the video content.

By combining the Video Lifecycle Solutions and Verizon Digital Media Services with the technology surfaced by Volicon, the users will be able to embrace transitions that are unnoticeable, allowing them to take their present feeds and broadcast channels directly to the cloud like model which encompasses OTT. The acquisition will allow the company to expand the boundaries of what end to end the video solution are representing currently and will also add weightage to the workflow tools which the companies possess already.

Both the giants already have access to the tools for video workflow that enable the content creators and broadcaster to come up with assets, generation of clips, opportunities pertaining to social sharing along with the highlights from the present live, linear workflows and VOD. The company also has the advantage to mass automation of broadcast signaling so that the program boundaries are recognized automatically, content replacement, blackout, insertion of ads, and the entitlement rules.
