Amazon Launches Its Cloud App
Amazon has launched its new Cloud App which is said to be worst work of the company.
Amazon Inc. is one of the biggest online retailers in the United States. The company offers a list of diversified products on its virtual marketplace. In that region, it is the best out there making competition fierce for other companies, such as Walmart, eBay, Target, Best Buy, etc. Thus, it is regarded as the reigning monarch of online shopping in America.
The company offers best services as an online retailer and a cloud computing business. The online retailer is also determined to bolster its cloud computing business in the coming times. For a very long time, it has cashed on those ideas that were truly special for not only the company, but customers as well. From Amazon Prime to company’s own Black Friday, it never stops to amaze its loyal customers.
The newly launched Cloud Drive does not qualify to come in that list. As many tech analysts mention it, “Amazon’s new Cloud Drive is ‘a terrible piece of software no one asked for.” The Next Web refers it as a week one prototype at best and suggests that such things should have never been launched on phones or tablets.
By the first look of it, there seems to be a few positives about the new application, such as the Android and iOS versions of the application have a similar layout; therefore, this makes it easy for the users to efficiently use both platforms. The application is plain; hence updating would be much easier than usual.
According to The Next Web, “Cloud Drive is a read-only viewer — it’s nowhere near a full-fledged app we should be using. It clearly knows what’s in your Cloud Drive account, but you can’t alter or upload from this app. I’d forgive that from a startup, but Amazon won’t get a pass.”
The problem occurs when the user jumps into the app. The new Cloud Drive app has three folders within it that include Documents, Pictures, and Videos. None of these folders is present in the Amazon Cloud, which creates trouble for users, as they are unable to add either files or folders to their Amazon Cloud with the help of this new app.
Mashable says, “It makes sense that Amazon is competitive in cloud storage. Amazon Web Services, the company's cloud computing arm, is where major companies like Netflix and Airbnb host their own databases.”
Amazon is constantly making changes in its cloud computing business in order to become the market leader in the near future.
