Twitter Inc. is supposedly making many changes in order to make it the best social media network in the industry. Despite of being the most preferred social media forum recently, it failed to surpass the likes of Facebook. Hence, to be precise according to analysts, Twitter’s focus is to be better and bigger than Facebook. It is adding and eliminating more features in order to improve and make user experience better. Furthermore, the company also seeks to make the platform more user-friendly. Thus, it is all set to debut another feature.

Twitter focused more on videos when it acquired Vine last year, which was quite successful with the micro blogging platform and it plans to do more with it. The company is now introducing an auto play feature for all the videos that appear on users’ timelines. This auto play feature will be applicable on vines, videos, and GIFs to automatically play on the timelines as the user scrolls down their newsfeeds. This auto play feature will play videos in landscape mode and users will be viewing videos in a wider screen ratio.

Currently, the company has rolled out this feature for the desktop users or iOS devices. It has plans to introduce this latest feature, which the users will be able to download as an update on Android devices in the coming days.

Twitter made an official announcement regarding the autoplay feature. It stated, “Now native videos, Vines and GIFs will begin to play back automatically. So you can keep up with the action without missing a tweet.”

Bidness ETC reports, “With the AutoPlay option, users can now watch buffered videos and vines without sound, as they browse through their newsfeed. This feature has proved to be a step-up for the platform’s advertisers, and allows them to get their message across Twitter more easily.”

It should be noted that this update from the company is optional. Users will have an option to either switch on or off the autoplay feature according to their needs. It is because that video streaming takes much data to load and stream it to the users, which might also slow the server down. On the other hand, it might not even load if the user has a slow connectivity internet.

There is also another option where users can opt for autoplay feature only when their WiFi is available. Twitter further said, “If you're somewhere with high data rates or you have low bandwidth on your device, we’ll opt you out of autoplay to avoid unexpected charges or slow performance, so you’ll continue to see videos as click-to-play.”
