Twitter Replaces Its Famous Star Icon To Heart
Twitter replaces its star icon to a heart-shaped one, but users are not very happy about the change.
The micro blogging giant recently made a decision to replace its ‘favorite’ features icon, which was star shaped into a heart shaped icon that is called likes now. This move is done in order to make its network more user-friendly and increase its user growth, which the company has been struggling to do since a while now.
Twitter Inc. is making report of struggles in the increase of its user growth for very long and has been making numerous changes according to the news lately. The micro blogging giant has so far brought the ‘buy now’ button on a rather small scale being just available in specific countries that gave users the option to buy products directly from the network instead of making tweets about them.
After this feature, the company launched its feature called ‘moments’, a feature that is very similar in functions to Snapchat’s live stories. Moments was also launched to expand its user growth and the customers did not have to follow anyone to know about what was going on but just click on the ‘lightning’ icon to get in touch with news and stay updated and entertained simultaneously. Now the company has yet again made another change for reaching more users by changing its start icon to a heart shaped icon.
This feature is very similar to other successful social media networks such as Facebook and YouTube’s ‘like’ options, which are very successful worldwide and are enjoyed by customers globally because all they have to do is pressing the ‘like’ icon. The social media giant is trying to do the same to meet the demand of online users. Instagram has a heart shaped icon as well that user’s click when they like a video or picture posted on the application.
An analyst from Crespi, Hardt & Co., James Cakmak, believes the company is making efforts to make its service up to date and trendy just like other platforms. He said, “It is not going to move the needle in any material way.” This showed James is skeptic of the moves the company is making.
The permanent CEO, Jack Dorsey is making the social media website as up to date and entertaining as possible. The company said, “You might like a lot of things, but not everything can be your favorite, we know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers.”
Heart is very famous on other social networks but not on Twitter, even though it is more sentimental, the company also mentioned in the blog post. The social media websites current users are not very happy about this change because of being used to the old icon. Thus, it will take them time to adjust to the new icon.
Twitter Stock is running at $28.86 currently (November 5).
