Walmart has had to make some difficult decision when the year has only started. It was continuously making the news because of demand, protests trikes and pressures from its workers for wage raises, discount and other benefits. The giant retail chain made an announcement of wage raises in many areas where its stores are located, not long after this it announced that it would be shutting down many of its stores.

It is shutting down many of its stores that are not as profitable for the business in many of its areas; the company also had to cancel the decision of opening new stores in poor neighborhoods. It has evidently changed its business model and strategy and is focusing on customer experience and improving its existing stores.

Obviously, the business has to get rid of items as quickly as possible, which is part good and part bad for the customers in these areas. Now customers can enjoy a discount of 50% starting on January 28. Sales will be provided an all of the items but not on firearms, fuel, prescription, ammunition, lottery tickets and alcohol, even electronics such as smartphone and tablets will not be for sale.

Customers of Walmart Stores have been enjoying the 25% discount since Monday and will enjoy the 50% soon enough. Almost 269 stores will shut down, in which 154 are situated in United States. The company has given a good thought to which of its stores were providing it the least profit and then made the decision to close these damaging stores and is taking actions rapidly.

Some stores that will be shutting down a bit later will not put up the discounts on the 28th. There have also been rumors that this discount might be given more than 50% later when the closing dates are near. This is good news for cost-conscious customers. By this time, many of the products on sale will already be gone, so customer better hurry up and should be all set to take some cash out.
