Twitter CEO Requirement: Full Time Employee

Twitter wants its next CEO to serve it full time.

Twitter Inc

Twitter Inc. the social media giant, mentioned in a statement recently about its need for a chief executive officer willing to work full time. Jack Dorsey, who many people eyed as the next chief executive officer of the company, does not really seem to fit in place considering the long-term prospects. Mr. Dorsey is the co-founder of Twitter and has now become the interim CEO until they do not find a suitable replacement.

The company has now revealed that it will choose its next CEO from the list of potential candidates who are ready to take the position as the next head.

Mr. Dick Costolo, the company’s former chief executive officer, submitted his resignation on June 11, which will be effective from July 1, 2015. The interim CEO was the replacement of Mr. Costolo, who is the current CEO of Square – a mobile payment company.

The reason for the Board of Directors not favoring the hiring of Mr. Dorsey is that they believe Twitter, at this point of time, needs someone more focused solely to it and willing to give his full time to the company.

As mentioned in an official blog post by Twitter, “The Committee will only consider candidates for recommendation to the full Board who are in a position to make a full-time commitment to Twitter. The search is proceeding with a sense of urgency but the Committee will take the time necessary to find the right CEO to lead the next phase of Twitter's growth.”

The company is taking the help of Mr. Spencer Stuart who will assist them throughout the process of recruiting the next CEO of the social media platform. At the same time, Mr. Peter Curie, a member of the Board of Directors, claims that Costolo’s leadership has helped them to establish a strong team for the microblogging giant. This has resulted in productive searches. It is stated, “Jack Dorsey’s ability to lead the company on an interim basis.”

The former CEO, at this point of time, has not really mentioned publicly about his interests to head the company in full time in future. It is extremely unlikely to expect him to leave Square, since it is expected to launch publicly in 2015. In this sensitive phase, he is not likely to leave the company for Twitter.

“In our next CEO, we are looking for a bold thinker and proven leader capable of helping Twitter fully capitalize on its unique platform”, stated Mr. Peter Curie.
