Cisco Helps South Africa To Adopt Internet of Things

Cisco is helping the South African region to fully embrace digitization and Internet of Things (IoT).

Internet of Thing (IoT) is the next big thing in the technology sector. The small and big companies, all are trying to adapt and bring connectivity to their businesses. Cisco Systems Corporation has been one of the most active to make connectivity easier over the time. The networking giant is also recently more focused in the network security domain and hence picked up the concept of IoT in its business.

The company is currently looking working to working with the South Africans to bring the new Internet of Things era in the region. It is believed that it has highlighted main steps that need to be taken care of if South Africa wants to become a digital region and to adopt the Internet of Things era.

Connectivity of devices is not an easy task but it is highly anticipated that almost all devices will be connected to each other in the coming 4 to 5 years. Therefore, not only companies but also countries are also making sure to advance in technology as soon as possible.

According to the Cisco Digital Vortex, it is believed that many organizations are not yet prepared to adopt digitization and welcome the IoT era in the region. Only 1 leader out of 4 across the globe has agreed to be ‘sufficiently proactive’ about the concept of digitization. More than 45% of the companies throughout the world do not consider this factor as important as board level attention. Therefore, they tend to let it go.

However, the approach of South Africa’s digitization plans must change in order to embrace the IoT era. Professionals are determined as well to make it achieve and support it one way or the other.

Cisco Systems believes, “The IoT should be part of every business discussion as digital transformation can drive operational efficiency, increase employee productivity, garner greater customer loyalty and create new revenue streams. As digitization accelerates, innovative infrastructure will increase the country’s GDP, reduce spending and create jobs. It will allow the government to extend the reach and impact of public services by converting insights into action.”

CIsco has been designing strategies to boost digitization across the country. It has named its plan as the Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration Strategy. It involves four major steps, namely Research & Education, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, Economic Clusters, and Infrastructure.

The country and the tech companies must focus and bring changes accordingly in all aspects in order to fully embrace digitization and soon the Internet of Things domain as well.
