Twitter Inc. is one of the social media giants that provide the best platform to users for breaking news and all the latest updates. The company believes in providing the best platform to its user database; hence, it is constantly changing its user interface and features. It is making the user experience better and user-friendly platform to increase its number of users.

All social media platforms are working on getting more and more videos on their platforms and the potential of videos on social media is increasing day in day out. Similarly, Twitter cashed in this opportunity very quickly. As soon as it heard Facebook’s owner saying that his platform will have more videos than texts posts, photos, and images, Twitter noted this as well.

The company was already incorporating Vines on its platform and collaborated with the brief video platform. Furthermore, it acquired a startup, Periscope, and joined hands with Meerkat. However, due to not reaching to a mutual agreement, it ended the support to Meerkat on its medium and promoted self-owned live stream broadcasting company.

This way, the corporate giant ignited a fire in the industry of live streaming and broadcasting companies. Meerkat now goes head-to-head with Periscope, despite of being ruled out to use the space of Twitter. Hence, the company pushed to make this startup available worldwide and increase its market share.

Previously, the acquired startup was available only for iOS users. People were allowed to broadcast their sessions live and directly share it online on the social media network. Recently, there were speculations that it would soon come to Android devices as well. Finally, the time has come as Twitter launches its popular live streaming app for Android users as well.

Periscope was previously an independent startup, which Twitter bought for a massive $100 million investment. It has now become a very big business and captivated the attention of loyal Twitter users. BidnessETC reports, “The increased popularity of the app was especially noticed when there was a gas explosion in New York and a Twitter user decided to fire up his own live stream, to give live updates to users who wanted to know what the explosion was all about.”

It is believed that the Android version of the live streaming app will be very different from the already available iOS version. The Periscope head of Android, named Sara Haider, said, “When you go into a broadcast, it’s going to be very much like the standard Periscope that you have come to know and love, with the hearts and comments and all of that.”
